Competition
Competitions will take place in venues carefully selected to provide the best possible conditions for athletes and spectators alike. Each site reflects the host country’s commitment to university sport, offering high-quality facilities in a setting designed for international events.
Competition format
The FISU World University HYROX Championship follows the official HYROX race format – one of the fastest-growing fitness competition formats in the world. Athletes complete 8 × 1 km runs, each immediately followed by one functional workout station, covering a total of approximately 8 km of running alongside 8 increasingly challenging exercises. The format is simple, transparent, and accessible – yet demands exceptional endurance, strength, and mental resilience.
FISU World University HYROX is open to two categories of participants:
Open
The Open Category welcomes all eligible student-athletes who register directly through the official HYROX platform. It is contested across three divisions: HYROX Men and HYROX Women for solo competitors, and HYROX Doubles Mixed for two-person mixed teams. Registration and full competition rules for this category – including detailed standards for each workout station – are available on the official HYROX website and in the HYROX Singles and Doubles Rulebooks.
FISU World University HYROX Championship
The Championship is reserved for athletes officially nominated by their National University Sports Federations (NUSFs) through the FISU Games Management System (GMS). This is the elite tier of the event, bringing together the best student-athletes in the world competing under FISU eligibility rules. It features three divisions: HYROX Pro Men, HYROX Pro Women, and HYROX Pro Doubles Mixed.
